Pedicure

Tonight I was feeling frustrated. This week, my goal was to get up at 7:00, train at 9:00, go to the library from no less than 11:30 – 3:30, train again from 4:00 – 6:00, then relax at night. Why this craziness, you ask? I’m applying for a research grant next year to look at women with disabilities in Kenya and the impact physical activity/sport has on their lives. The deadline is July 10th. Therefore – double duty for a few weeks until I get it done. But it’s like having two jobs again, and it’s going to be frustrating. By the time I got to the track tonight I was exhausted, unfocused…and…well, it was frustrating.

After training, I rushed home, showered, and made my way over to my own personal Garden of Eden - Palo Alto Central Nails. I was feeling so, so rough after three weeks of travel and competition. I drifted off while getting my pedicure…sleepy, relaxed, pampered, sleepy.

While I was drifting off, every once in awhile I would notice a leg shake as the woman doing my nails would put one of my feet onto the edge of the sink or place it back in the water. Only the slightest motion noted, although she was lotioning, hot stone massaging, painting, filing. The full pedicure…I request nothing but the best…this, from someone whom cannot feel her legs.

I found it odd yet important that I chose to invest in the full pedicure although the tingle of the lotions and warmth of the hot stones is only a sensation I imagine in my mind.

Yet, I leave the nail salon feeling like a whole woman, who is taking care of her whole self. Beautiful and ready to take on the next day.

Hello

Hi Cheri,
How are thing's going? I hope all is well. Things are quiet here in Duluth. We had quite the busy days when you were here. Have been watching the olympic time trials on TV over the weekend, how exciting for you to be going to Beijing! What a thrill! Keep in touch and I will be following you along the way. Get me a pin and a refrigerator magnet, I collect them. Also any clothing memorabilia that the US Olympic team may be wearing. I got a baret from the Olympics in Torino, Italy. You know what I am talking about. Keep in touch and I'll be following and relaying it back to the staff. Take care and stay healthy!

Long Time No See

Hey there!

It's been quite a while since we've communicated and I just wanted to drop you a line. I'm glad to see that you're doing well with racing and school. I just read that you plan to finish your medical degree next year--that's great! I think that will be about the time that I wrap up my Ph.D. in History (University of Nebraska). I've been married for almost 7 years now, have a son that's 9 1/2 months old and am loving life. Continued success to you and I would love to hear from you if you get a chance.

Hello Cheri, "I got to the

Hello Cheri,

"I got to the track tonight I was exhausted, unfocused…and…well, it was frustrating." That could be due to a decreasing in your red cells, maybe also decreasing in the hb mass.

For make a double session the most important thing is to respect the most important thing in the training program and this is no other than "invisible training" which are all those things we do around aur training sessions (sleep, eat,...). So for feel better just take a shower after your training, wear your pijama and sleep for some hours after your next sessions.

.... Finally the winner won´t be the stronger, will be this one with a better oxygen transport....

King regards,

Thank you...

...for reminding me of the importance of taking care of my whole self :-)
